AP Reading in Kansas City -- June 2010

After visiting Hope, Heather, and Lloyd, I headed back to Kansas City, where I worked for over a week training readers and reading exams. I was able to do a bit of fun stuff in the evening with my friend, Javier.

I was really surprised at how pretty some parts of Kansas City are. This is a shopping district, built in an old Spanish style in the 1920s.

Javi and I had such a good time; he had me laughing all the time!

Kansas City is known as the "City of Fountains," and we saw several, that's for sure.

This one reminded me of the Mannekin Pis in Brussels, Belgium. Below are a couple of pictures of the icon of Brussels, which on different days gets a costume. The costume below was the one he donned on Belgium Independence Day, 2007.

Back to Kansas City and its pretty architecture.

The US World War I museum is located in Kansas City and is definitely worth a visit.

This (replica?) was one of the first planes used by the US in World War I.

There was quite a bit to read and learn from the timeline.

Outside the museum, Javi was asked to take some people's photos. He took his job very seriously. :-)

This is Kansas City's old train station, which is beautiful inside and out.

Visiting Heather & Hope in June

As usual, I've fallen behind on my posts. So, now I have to backtrack back to June to fill in the rest of the summer (now that summer is over...). When I went to the Advanced Placement Comparative Government reading (a job that I've worked at every year for the past several years), which this year was in Kansas City, Missouri, I took some extra time to visit Heather, Hope, and Lloyd Hall in Iowa. It was the first time I went to visit them since they moved there a couple of years ago.

Hope and I like to goof around, and here's some photo documentation of that. :-)
